Dear Members of the ¹ú²úºÚÁÏU Community,

Earlier this week, the Board of Trustees met with President Robin Farias-Eisner for the first time since the formal selection of Dr. Paula Crone as the new provost at ¹ú²úºÚÁÏU. During the meeting, the board unanimously voiced its support for the selection and the collaborative community-oriented process that was undertaken to provide input to President Farias-Eisner as part of his decision-making process.

As a board, we were pleased to see the collaborative and thoughtful manner with which the President approached this important decision. At every stage there was a consistent commitment to shared governance and a clear consideration to ensuring all stakeholders had the ability to engage in the consultative process to inform President Farias-Eisner’s decision. Watching how the President approached the process reinforced that he is the right leader at the right time for our continued growth at ¹ú²úºÚÁÏU.

With the appointment of Dr. Crone, President Farias-Eisner has selected a leader with a proven track record of success in the ¹ú²úºÚÁÏU community. Dr. Crone is someone who knows the University deeply and appreciates the specific needs of the faculty, staff and students that ¹ú²úºÚÁÏU serves—all attributes that were reflected by the community commentary gathered as part of the process.

As a board, we have the utmost confidence in President Farias-Eisner and Provost Crone to lead ¹ú²úºÚÁÏU into the future. We want to echo the President’s thanks to the committee that collaborated and gathered the input that informed President Farias-Eisner’s decision and resulted in the hiring of a superb academic leader as provost, especially co-chairs Dr. Stephanie Bowlin and Dr. Raj Kandpal.
